Why I Write For Children

I was the middle child with all the perks and foibles that come with being the middle child. There were close to 100 baby photos of my older sister and an equal number of my younger sister. But there were only two baby pictures of me.

My mother insisted it wasn’t because I was the typical neglected middle child. Rather it was because I was a homely baby and I looked like a boy. (That was supposed to make me feel better.)Baby Ellen 2

But that’s all in the past…really. It doesn’t bother me at all.

Okay, so maybe a part of me is stuck back in childhood, and that’s why I write primarily for children.
